SidePin — Privacy Policy

Overview

SidePin ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that adds a side panel to your browser, letting you pin websites and view them alongside your current tab. This Privacy Policy describes how the Extension accesses, uses, stores, shares, and protects user data.

SidePin does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. There is no SidePin account, no SidePin server, and no analytics or tracking built into the Extension. Everything SidePin stores stays in your own browser.

1. Data Accessed

User Preferences (Local Only)

• The sites you have pinned, including their names, URLs, and order
• The last URL visited within each pinned site
• Panel preferences such as width, dark mode setting, and default view

Data the Extension Does Not Access

• Names, email addresses, or any other personally identifiable information
• Health, financial, or authentication information
• Browsing history, page contents, keystrokes, or form input
• Location data
• Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics of any kind

2. Data Usage

SidePin uses the data it stores solely to provide the Extension's core functionality: displaying your pinned sites in the side panel, preserving their order, and returning you to where you left off within each one.

SidePin does not use any data for advertising, analytics, profiling, market research, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Extension's features.

SidePin does not use any user data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

3. Data Sharing

SidePin does not share, sell, rent, or transfer any user data to any third parties. This includes:

• No data is sent to any external servers owned or operated by the developer.
• No data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.
• No data is shared with other applications or services.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

• Side panel: displays the SidePin panel in the browser's sidebar.
• Storage: saves your pinned sites and panel preferences, as described above.
• Declarative net request: adjusts response headers so that sites which would otherwise refuse to be displayed inside a frame can load in the side panel. These rules are applied by the browser itself. SidePin does not read, log, or receive the network traffic they apply to.
• Host access: allows the panel to display the sites you choose to open in it. SidePin does not read or store the contents of those pages.

5. Data Storage & Protection

All user data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in extension storage API. No data is stored on external servers or in cloud databases.

If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may sync your preferences across your own signed-in devices under your Google account. This is handled entirely by Chrome; the developer has no access to it.

SidePin does not download or execute remote code. All extension logic ships inside the published package.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your pinned sites and preferences are retained in local storage until you remove them or uninstall the Extension.

• Remove a pin: right-click any icon in the sidebar rail and select "Remove."
• Uninstall: uninstalling the Extension automatically removes all locally stored data and preferences.
• Clear browser data: clearing extension storage through your browser's settings will remove all Extension data.

Since no data is stored on external servers, there is no server-side data to request deletion of.

Sites You Open Inside SidePin

When you load a website in the side panel, you are interacting with that website directly, exactly as you would in a normal browser tab. Your activity there is governed by that site's own privacy policy and terms, not by this one. Cookies, logins, and any data collection on those sites are handled by the sites themselves.

Affiliate Links

SidePin participates in the Amazon Associates program. When Amazon is opened through SidePin, an affiliate tag may be appended to the link, which means the developer may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Amazon's handling of your data is covered by Amazon's own privacy notice. SidePin does not receive information about what you view or purchase.

Search

If you use the search box in the panel, your query is sent to the selected search provider in order to return results. SidePin does not store, log, or transmit your search queries anywhere else.

Donations

Donations are optional and handled entirely by PayPal. If you choose to donate, PayPal processes that transaction under its own privacy policy. SidePin does not receive or store your payment details.

Cookies & Tracking

SidePin does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, or any form of user tracking or monitoring.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
